Built in 1901 and used for years as a gentlemen's club, the Miles Building is now a combination of a storefront and office space. Asheville's local newspaper, the Mountain Xpress, which has rented space in the building, has reported incidents of a ghostly arm dressed in a white, long-sleeve shirt reaching across desks before vanishing. Similarly, office chairs have been heard squeaking across the floor and file cabinets closing. With over a hundred years of renters and businesses using the building, it's anybody's guess as to who or what is performing the hauntings.

I've worked here at Mountain Xpress in the Miles Building for nearly ten years and have never heard the ghostly arm story. I do feel the place is haunted, most notably I heard footsteps coming up the stairs when the building was locked and completely empty except for me. Also there are noises in locked offices that I then open and nothing is there. Never heard about a ghostly arm though.
